Jade’s Knockout Journey: Finding Confidence Through Boxing

Always back yourself. Jade, a professional boxer, Commonwealth Games athlete, and passionate advocate for mental health and body confidence, is proof that strength isn’t just about what you can lift, it’s about what you can overcome. Here's her knock-out story...

I got into boxing at a time when I wasn’t in a great place mentally. I had put on weight and didn’t feel like myself. I knew I needed something to help me feel stronger both physically and mentally. What began as a way to channel my energy and get in better shape soon became so much more. The discipline, the mindset and the respect the sport demands all just clicked for me.

Over time, boxing stopped being just a workout. It gave me structure, focus and purpose. It helped me find myself again.

That is not to say it was always easy. There were plenty of tough moments from training injuries to cancelled fights and weight cuts that tested every ounce of my willpower. One of the hardest things was staying committed when opportunities felt out of reach or when setbacks came just as I thought I was building momentum. But each challenge only made me stronger. I fought through it all both physically and mentally.

One of the biggest highlights of my career was representing the Island at the Commonwealth Games. Standing on that stage reminded me of just how far I had come. Another defining moment was making my professional debut. It felt like the start of a new chapter one I had worked years to earn. Both experiences pushed me outside of my comfort zone and made me even more determined to grow.

What I love most about boxing is how it challenges you on every level physically, emotionally and mentally. It teaches you to stay sharp, stay humble and never give up. Boxing is not just about throwing punches. It is about strategy, heart and personal growth. When I step into the ring, I feel a sense of control and freedom that I cannot find anywhere else. Along the way I have also met the most amazing people and made friendships I will carry for life.

If I could offer advice to other women, it would be this. Do not wait for permission to take up space. Boxing is not just for men. It is for anyone willing to show up and work hard. Believe in yourself even when others do not. And do not be afraid to fail because that is where the real learning happens. Trust your own journey and surround yourself with people who genuinely support you.

Looking ahead, I want to climb the ranks, earn titles and become a name that people respect in the sport. But more importantly, I want to inspire other women, especially younger girls, to step into the ring and realise their own strength. I also want to use my platform to raise awareness about mental health, body confidence and the power of grit.

Boxing has given me so much confidence, purpose and a true sense of belonging. More than anything, it has shown me that no matter where you start or what you have been through, with the right mindset and relentless effort, you can shape a life you never thought possible. I have let go of expectations and feel truly grateful for every opportunity that comes my way. Whether or not I reach the very top, I am at peace knowing I have poured my heart into this journey. That alone means everything to me.

Jade’s story isn’t just about sport, it’s about reclaiming strength, staying true to yourself and leading with heart. Her courage to keep showing up, no matter the challenge, inspires us to do the same. We’ll be cheering her on ringside or not!
