Who’s ready to meet a woman who’s living proof that sport and strength aren’t just about what your body can do, but about how it makes you feel? This week’s PowerWomen spotlight is on Meghan Pilley, founder of Home and Tone, who has turned her lifelong love of movement into a safe space where women can grow stronger, happier, and more confident, without ever stepping foot in a gym.
My Journey Into Sport and Movement
I’ve been passionate about sport and fitness for as long as I can remember. My story actually began at age three with ballet, a love that carried me through 15 years of training. I completed every grade up to intermediate and even performed in two shows.
By the time I was seven, athletics had also taken hold of my life. Sprinting became my sport, and I competed at national and international level, a passion I still hold on to today. I always thought my career would end up somewhere in sport, but I also had another big interest: investigative work. That curiosity led me to study criminology and sociology at university. I loved diving into evidence-based studies, analysing, and understanding behaviour.
After graduating, I found myself working in e-gaming. It was steady, but something inside me kept whispering that I wasn’t on the right path. What I really wanted was to help women feel good in their own skin.
Creating Home and Tone
That’s when Home and Tone was born. It started as an idea, what if women could get fit, strong, and confident from the comfort of their own homes? What if fitness didn’t feel intimidating, but fun, accessible, and supportive?
Now, I run three fun Zoom fitness classes each week, plus a monthly “walk, talk & coffee” meet-up where we get moving outdoors and then connect over a brew. It’s not just about exercise; it’s about building a network of like-minded women who cheer each other on.
The Challenges Along the Way
Like any new venture, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. One of the biggest challenges is visibility. Social media is where most of my marketing happens, but it’s easy for posts to get lost in the noise. Sometimes I feel like I’m still a hidden gem, not enough women know we’re here yet. But I’m determined to change that because I know the value of what Home and Tone offers: a safe, welcoming space where women can take that first step into fitness without fear or judgement.
What I Love Most
The best part of my job? Watching women transform. And not just physically, it’s the confidence, the mindset shifts, the spark you can see in someone’s eyes when they realise they’re stronger than they thought.
Many women join Home and Tone feeling nervous or even intimidated by the idea of fitness. But over time, I watch them light up. They tell me they feel happier, more confident, more at ease in their own skin. For me, knowing I’ve created a space where women feel supported and genuinely look forward to moving their bodies, that’s everything.
My Advice for Women Starting Out
If you’re just beginning your fitness journey and feeling unsure, please know this: you don’t have to have it all figured out on day one. Everyone starts somewhere, and real progress comes from small, consistent steps.
Find something you enjoy, whether it’s walking, dancing around your living room, or joining a supportive online workout, and build from there. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, surround yourself with people who lift you up, and most of all, be kind to yourself.
Confidence doesn’t come overnight, but it does grow with time. And you’ll be amazed at what both your body and mind can achieve.
Looking Ahead
My dream is to grow Home and Tone into a truly empowering community, welcoming women of all backgrounds, whether they’re brand new to exercise, returning after a break, or looking for that little extra boost alongside their current routine. I want every woman to feel like she belongs here, surrounded by encouragement, inspiration, and support.
At Level Up Club, we’re all about confidence, creativity, connection, and growth and Meghan’s story ticks every box. She’s turned her lifelong love of sport into something so much bigger: a community that’s redefining what it means to be strong.
Stories like Meghan’s remind us that fitness isn’t about perfection or pressure, it’s about finding joy, building confidence, and discovering just how powerful you already are.
So here’s to Meghan, and to every woman making space for strength, health, and happiness on her own terms. 💪
